Healthy Homemade Jam

This jam is made just with fruit and chia seeds, meaning it is incredibly tasty and packed full of nutrients with no added sugar. Chia seeds are a great source of protein, omega-3 and fiber, so your body will thank you for choosing this over the shop bought varieties. As there are so few ingredients this jam is also both dairy free and suitable for vegans, so also perfect for those of us who cant eat dairy. This jam goes perfectly in my Dairy Free Jammy DogdersΒ 

What you will need:

  • 500g frozen berries
  • enough boiling water to cover the based of a medium saucepan
  • 3 tbsp chia seeds

Method:

Heat the hob to high and place over it a medium saucepan filled with the berries of your choice.

Boil the kettle and add enough water to the pan so that the based is covered. Leave until the mixture begins to boil, mixing every few minutes.

Once boiled reduce to a medium heat and add the chia seeds, stiring every few minutes.

After 10 minutes reduce to a low heat and allow to simmer at this temperature for 20 minutes making sure to stir it every 5.

Remove from heat and allow to cool, before placing in an old jam jar or mason jar, to be stored in the fridge. Keeps for up to 1 week.
